Funding and back-to-the pool support

We are only too aware of the issues as clubs struggle with increased financial pressures.  As a county, we are working on providing grants to all our affiliated clubs to be used for initiatives to increase membership and get as many people back, enjoying themselves in the water as possible, and meeting Swim England governance best practice.

Both Kent Swimming and the South East/London regions are offering practical support and guidance as follows:

... and, of course, there is a good amount of information on the Swim England website on returning to sport.

In the meantime we have collated links to funding opportunities available ... word has it that there is quite a bit of funding available if you know where to look and how to apply for it.  There are some useful links below.

Finally, watch this space for details of how the county can help you!

Coach course funding (Assistant Coach and Coach):  Swim England members who are part of a Swim England affiliated club, can access courses at a reduced rate. Swim England Club Affiliation and SwimMark Clubs members are eligible for subsidised spaces in order to reward and recognise, as well as support the growth of clubs who hold Club Affiliation or SwimMark status. is available, with discounts for Swim England members within clubs:

  • Assistant Coach:  RRP – £375.00   Club offer – £221.25 (41% discount)
  • Coach: RRP – £660.00.  Club offer – £455.40 (31% discount)

To improve awareness and ease of booking for both the Assistant Coach and Coach courses for clubs and members, all courses will now be bookable directly through the IoS website – www.swimming.org/ios

Use this link to access information on how to access this reduced rate.

Until the end of September 2024 all Kent Clubs will be eligible for a 50% bursary for one Assistant Coach and one Coach candidate (any discipline). The booking must have been made via the IOS website, and taken advantage of the discounted club offer above, and will not be affected by any other funding that might have been available. On completion of the course, bursary claims should be submitted to Ian Howes.

Kent Rural clubs can apply for a Bursary for selected courses and workshops. Please note that they must be applied for before registering. Full details are on the Swim South East website.  There is also a full list of funding opportunities available here.

Kent London Clubs can apply for similar Bursary - ensure you check the details carefully.  Again, there is also a full list of funding opportunities available here.

City of Milton Keynes SC has written a very useful 'crowdfunding crib sheet' which can be downloaded here - there has been a huge amount of hard work gone into producing it!
