South East Region under 19s Girls tournament success - Saturday 13 May 2017

2nd June 2017

Last Saturday was the South East Region under 19s Girls tournament which had Kent, Hampshire and Sussex all competing to have the opportunity to be regional champions this year.

The evening started with the host team, Kent, playing against Hampshire. Kent got off to a great start scoring the first 3 goals. Their performance stayed strong throughout the match winning each quarter (Q1 - 3-1, Q2 - 3-1, Q3 - 2-0, Q4 - 2-1) and making the final score 10 -3 to Kent.

The next game up was Sussex vs Hampshire, Sussex was only able to score one goal in the first quarter with Hampshire defending well. The scores from the quarters were (Q1 - 1-0, Q2 - 3-2, Q3- 4-0, Q4 - 1-1) with the final score 9-3 to Sussex.

Going into the final game the title was still undecided, who ever won between Kent and Sussex would be crowned the champions for 2017. Kent once again got of to a storming start by putting 3 past Sussex in the first quarter without conceding. the second and third quarter were tight with neither team conceding but Kent always seemed to have control of the match. (Q1 - 0-3, Q2 - 1-1, Q3- 0-0, Q4 - 0-3) Final score 1-7 to Kent.

Great credit must be given to Richard Collins for coaching the team. Unlike a normal Kent team, performance off to a slow start, this was quite the opposite. Kent really did come out firing on all cylinders from the off.

Final congrats goes to the players themselves for a strong performance and all other volunteers who made it a successful tournament.
