Apply

Orpington Ojays Swimming Club, based in the south-east London/Kent borders, is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate head coach. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to coach swimmers of all ages and abilities, motivating them to reach their maximum potential, from development to competitive levels. The head coach should have experience as a permanent coach of a performance squad, including planning and development, and setting performance targets. Leadership skills are essential as the head coach needs to motivate and mentor the coaches.

This is an ideal position for anyone who has experience as a head coach already or a coach who holds a Level 2 Award/Swimming Coach Certificate and is looking to make the next step up to a head coach position. The right person would be well supported professionally and personally by the coaches and the committee.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Devising and implementing the aquatics programme for the club
  • Coaching the club’s performance squad
  • Overseeing and supporting coaches and assistants
  • Organising the competition calendar and attending key galas throughout the year
  • Oversight, management and occasional coaching of all squads
  • Facilitating a strength and conditioning programme
  • Setting and monitoring performance goals for swimmers and overseeing squad progression
  • Implementing long-term athlete development models with a holistic approach to swimmer development
  • Leading biennial overseas training camp
