Orpington Ojays seeks a Level 2 swimming coach

30th June 2021

Orpington Ojays is a large, family-orientated club with seven competitive squads in addition to our learn-to-swim classes: Tadpoles, development squads, and a competitive Masters squad, and is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, passionate and motivational coach for our friendly, successful and SwimMark-accredited club.

The successful candidate will hold the Swim England Level 2 coaching certificate (or be a strong Level 1 with relevant experience, and working towards Level 2) with a proven track record, a high level of technical understanding and progressive ideas.

You will be directly responsible for coaching one of our squads including training, setting and reviewing goals, and working with the land-training coach to make sure the swimmers achieve their aims.  We will expect you to attend competitions throughout the year and give clear, constructive feedback to the swimmers.  Alongside the committee - and as part of the coaching team - you will help develop the season's training programme and help organise the club's calendar of events, identifying competitions for our swimmers to take part in - covering all levels of achievement - from open galas, to leagues, and on to counties, regionals and nationals.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive club and as such we want a coach who can nurture the talent of all our swimmers. You will be someone who wants to invest time and energy into the young swimmers and reap the rewards as they grow in confidence and as athletes, giving them a clear pathway of progression and keeping the club as successful as it can be as older swimmers move on. You will be a good communicator, equally at ease speaking to swimmers of all levels, parents, other coaches and the committee.

Salary: Competitive (on a self-employed basis).

Based: Primarily in Orpington (33m pool) with use of other local facilities (both 25m and 50m) so use of a car and a valid full driving licence is essential.

Final date for applications: 30th June 2021

Contact information for applications: To apply please send your current CV and covering letter outlining why you are interested in the role and how you meet the role's requirements to the Chair David Ryan
