Crystal Palace: be involved and have your say!
5th September 2018
As swimming lead for London Sport and lead for Bromley, I have been involved in the proposed development at Crystal Palace for a number of years. The latest part of this process is just about to begin in earnest and I am aware that whilst the sports facility is owned by the GLA, the Mayor of London’s primary concern is for Londoners not necessarily the wider community across South East England for which this centre plays an important role. Outlined below is an update on this next phase of the consultation along with details of some of the specific events that I am hoping that you can all champion.
Please can you contribute/promote as widely as you see fit and please let me know if you have any queries?
Do you want to help shape the future plan for Crystal Palace National Sports Centre?
The Mayor of London wants to ensure that Crystal Palace National Sports Centre is fit for the future.
A team of architects, designers, enthusiasts and specialists has been assembled to come up with a plan under the name ‘On Your Marks!’
Learn more about ‘On Your Marks!’ at the link below:
The facilities have seen better days, but changes can be made to transform the Centre into a hub for leisure and sport that works for the whole community. In 2019 the Mayor will set out a plan for the Centre’s future. The Centre might look slightly different - but its record of providing a space for sports and recreation, health and well-being, that meets the needs of both sports communities and local people will be firmly secured.
Together with the On Your Marks! team, we want you to help us shape a training plan for the Centre’s comeback.
There are various ways in which you can get involved with On Your Marks! during the remainder of 2018.
Across August and September you are invited to attend a series of events, including workshops and focus groups at the Centre.
You can find below a link to view all the events so far confirmed:
Click on each of the individual events for more information and for instructions on how to note your attendance via. Eventbrite.
Please note, if you are Coach or part of a Club then we would specifically encourage your attendance at the workshops on 4th & 5th September
In order to get the ball rolling and ensure the voice of the community is at the heart of the plan, we need you to share and complete our short questionnaire examining your experiences of the Centre, and what you believe could be improved to help it reach a new personal best.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments you can contact On Your Marks! by email on;
