Championships Update - Week 2
Thank You: A huge thank you to all the officials and helpers who attended the first weekend. KCASA really does appreciate your time.
The Championships are now underway, and we have seen some very impressive racing so far. Next week sees the start of the main changes to the programme. Finals for age-groups begin and it promises to produce some thrilling racing, keeping more of the swimmers involved in the championships for much longer.
Medal Ceremonies: Obtaining a 1st, 2nd or 3rd spot at county level is a major achievement and we are holding presentation ceremonies throughout the championships. Medals 4-8 will still pick up from the medals table. Please ensure your swimmers are aware so that they are available for presentations at the relevant time.
Programme of Events: All the events, warm up times and venues, can be found here. This page will have start lists and results throughout the event ... subject to any technical glitches!
The results will update on a heat by heat basis so that the Age-group results can be seen to build up over the event. It did cause some confusion for some last weekend, if it says DNA by a swimmer, it means they are yet to swim. They are of course subject to protest and therefore provisional until the event is complete.
Car Parking: Car Parking at Crystal Palace is free, and is on a 'first come first served' basis. Parking on the first weekend was very difficult. The top car park was closed, we have requested access to the top car park and offered to pay for extra security. We are still awaiting a response. We will update clubs as the week progresses.
Please remember that the centre is also open to the general public. You are welcome to park on the circuit road which runs behind the stadium and training pool area. This has around 150 spaces. You need to take the road behind the athletics stadium from the mini roundabout, instead of the normal car park.
Entry Fees: Cost of entry is £5.00 a day (£2.00 refundable if you leave before the start of the second session). If you arrive for just the second session it will cost £3.00. A programme will cost £2.00. Please have the correct change.
Spectator Seating: This weekend promises to be much busier, could we ask that all competitors sit downstairs, leaving the upstairs for spectators.
Coach Passes: Coach passes last the duration of the championships, once collected and signed for they are the coach's responsibility. We wont be able to produce coach passes on the day, and you will need one to access the poolside area, and avoid an entrance charge. Please look after them. All poolside helpers will have either an officials ID, or a poolside pass. No other non-swimmer personnel will be allowed poolside.
Withdrawals - on the day: The whole event is a SIGN OUT gala. This year coaches/TM must sign out before the start of Warm Up, on the relevant Start List. If as a result of non sign out, we run with an empty lane, there will be a £10 fine. Coaches need start sheets as soon as possible, and this gives the organisers a chance to do that.
Withdrawals - before the day: If you wish to withdraw BEFORE the day of competition, we can accept an email from the club gala organiser. to alan.davidson@kentswimming.org (Include event number, comp number and name). Do not assume the withdrawal has happened unless you receive an acknowledgement. Unfortunately emails sometimes don't make it through spam.
Good Luck everyone.
