2024 Swimming Championships 1500 Freestyle update

31st January 2024

1500m Freestyle - K2 Crawley, Pease Pottage Hill, Crawley, RH11 9BQ Warm up is at 5.30 pm - start time 6 pm. There is only one session per event. There is a swim down pool available - this is only 0.9m deep and it is STRICTLY NO DIVING. The 'beach area' is also STRICTLY off limits. Any withdrawals prior to Saturday 3 February may be notified to Lynn Gates by 9 am Saturday morning thereafter any withdrawals may be made at the desk that will be situated by the changing village on poolside.

As stated, spaces left by withdrawals made before noon on Friday 2 February will be offered to reserves on the reserve lists previously published Where time is available formal presentations will be made to the Open and Junior male and female winners upon completion of racing. We do have an official photographer this year. Photos can be viewed and purchases for downloads made at https://jasonshepherd.smugmug.com/Kent-County-Swimming-Championship-2024 You will need a password to access the photos and details have been sent to all Clubs of this. Details of how to view the photos will also be on the wall behind the spectator gallery with a QR code. Spectator tickets for the long distance sessions are available for purchase at £3 a session at https://www.kentswimming.org/sspage-swimming-championships62-spectator_tickets.html There will be no cash entry.

We understand that the access filter from the M23 direction is now open. Crawley do have a home match on 3 February but this should not affect access to the Pool. Spectators for the football are not allowed in the Leisure Centre Car Park. There are events at K2 at the same time as the Championships which may mean that the car park is full. In particular this may be the case on 3 February. There is an overflow car park at the Tilgate office park. The office park can be reached by turning left out of the K2 car park and is not too far along the dual carriageway on the left. If you reach the M23 roundabout you will need to retrace your steps.
