2024 Kent Swimming Championships - distance events urgent update
24th January 2024
27 January: 800m Freestyle & 3 February: 1500m Freestyle at K2 Crawley, Pease Pottage Hill, Crawley, RH11 9BQ
Warm up is at 5.30 pm - start time 6 pm. There is only one session per event. There is a swim down pool available - this is only 0.9m deep and it is STRICTLY NO DIVING. The 'beach area' is also STRICTLY off limits.
Any withdrawals prior to Saturday 27 January may be notified to Lynn Gates by 9 am Saturday morning thereafter any withdrawals may be made at the desk that will be situated by the changing village on poolside. As stated spaces left by withdrawals made before noon on Friday 26th January will be offered to reserves on the reserve lists previously published
The same procedure for 3 February withdrawals maybe notified to Lynn Gates by 9 am on Saturday 3 February thereafter any withdrawals may be made at the desk situated by the changing village.
Where time is available formal presentations will be made to the Open and Junior male and female winners upon completion of racing.
Spectator tickets for the long distance sessions are available for purchase at £3 a session. There will be no cash entry.
We understand that the access filter from the M23 direction is now open. Crawley do have a home match on 3 February but this should not affect access to the Pool. Spectators for the football are not allowed in the Leisure Centre Car Park. There are events at K2 at the same time as the Championships which may mean that the car park is full. In particular this may be the case on 3 February. There is an overflow car park at the Tilgate office park. The office park can be reached by turning left out of the K2 car park and is not too far along the dual carriageway on the left. If you reach the M23 roundabout you will need to retrace your steps.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT
A great deal of work goes on behind the scenes to enable the championships to run smoothly - the county is always on the look-out for new people to help with the technical support needed and whilst we have a dedicated technical support team who can pass on their skills and knowledge it is a small team and we need to increase the numbers - if you are technically minded then this may well be the volunteer role you are looking for in swimming.
Remember also to check the Championships page for regular updates
