Tonbridge SC is recruiting a L2 Swimming Teacher for its Learn to Swim Section

We are a friendly competitive local swimming club. We take swimmers from learn to swim up to National and recently International level - indeed the Club has made and wishes to continue making strides in its competitiveness over recent years.

We are looking for a Level 2 Swimming Teacher - someone who is experienced, passionate, and committed to leading or being “no.2” teacher (subject to capabilities) for our Learn to Swim section, growing the section and moving swimmers towards our competitive pathway. These squads (for NPTS levels 1 to 6) are primarily 5-8 year-olds who are committed to attending regular teaching sessions (ideally twice per week).

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Have good communication and organisational skills with: parents, swimmers, volunteer assistants and other coaches.
  • Process new enquiries / trialists for the LTS section.
  • Liaise closely with Lead Coaches for squads above.
  • Manage and monitor attendance registers and swimmers’ progression.
  • Hold a minimum of a L2 Swimming Teaching qualification (or aiming towards).
  • Prepare teaching plans for the sessions and liaise with assistants (preparation will be required out of hours).
  • Have good knowledge of teaching methods, including working to Swim England Club Awards and be prepared to attend CPD opportunities.
  • Lead selection for selected Learn to Swim galas (& attend as needed).
  • Be driven to better themselves and achieve results.
  • Be committed to attending / running at least the following sessions per week:

o Tue: 6.30-8.30pm @ Tonbridge

o Fri: 6.30-8.30pm @ Tonbridge

Hours may grow as may the remit (subject to candidate’s capabilities).

Other qualifications may be useful but not essential and will be considered as part of the application process (eg Lifeguarding, Coaching, Safeguarding).

We are aiming to fill this post by end of October 2019.
