Swimming Official Assessment Guidelines

31st July 2018

If any J1, J2 or J2S candidate wants to be assessed at a non-Kent meeting, they must get prior permission either from me or from John Burdett.

This will avoid a range of issues such as:  assessments by single assessors, newly qualified J1s, assessment where no Referee is present, lack of British Swimming assessment forms available, all of which have been encountered from other Counties.  As a reminder:

  • Assessments can only be carried out whenever there are TWO QUALIFIED REFEREES at the meeting. No other Officials are authorised Kent Assessors.
  • Assessments cannot be carried out at Level 1 or Level 2 meetings (eg Regionals)
  • Assessments can only be carried out when J1/J2 books are completed and competencies signed off.
  • The Course book should be signed, if passed, by one of the assessing Referees, who will then inform me and send me the assessment form.

If you have any additional queries, please do contact me.
