How you can play your part in the management of Kent Swimming

26th January 2023

This is your opportunity to be at the heart of developing a range of aquatic disciplines within Kent Swimming.  Since the ACM in September 2022, we have additional vacancies within the management team and are asking those among you to volunteer to play your part.  The vacancies include:

  1. County Welfare Officer:  This is primarily a supportive role focused on giving guidance - and sometime practical help - to a club's welfare officer, the club itself as well as to individual members.  Although it is not intended to be a hierarchical arrangement, there will be some collaboration with both the Regional Welfare Officer and the Swim England Safeguarding Team.  Some experience in safeguarding and protecting children is essential, which might be from professional experience or from a similar swimming and/or generic sport welfare role at club level and upwards.  Training will be given as necessary.
  2. Development Officer:  This role is ideal for a person who is able to support a maintain short- and long-term oversight of the separate disciplines in Kent Swimming, ensuring that their aims, development plans and budgets reflect those of Kent Swimming.  This role is a Management Committee one.
  3. Kent London Management Committee Representative:  This is one of three representatives for Kent London, all of whom are members of Kent London clubs.  Representatives are expected to attend six Management meetings a year (currently four via Zoom and two face-to-face) plus the face-to-face ACM on a Saturday morning in September/October.
  4. Disability/Para Swimming Manager:  The aim of this role is to lead a committee whose role is to promote and develop the discipline in Kent.  This is likely to appeal to either to an involved parent or coach, or ex/current disability/para athlete.
  5. Diving Manager: The aim of this role is to lead a committee whose role is to promote and develop the discipline in Kent. This is likely to appeal to either to an involved parent or coach, or ex/current diver.

Role descriptions can be found here - and there is some room for negotiation if necessary.  In addition, there is additional information on the role of the committees within the Constitution (Rules 7, 9 and 10).

If there are any additional queries or would like to register your interest in any of these roles, please contact Shelley Robinson.
