New Format Kent Development Meet - A new look competition for 2016!

29th October 2016

A new look competition for 2016!

The Swimming Committee along with the Coaches forum have redesigned the Kent Development Championships. Our aim is to encourage more entrants, and give more swimmers a chance to win a Kent Medal. As the title says it is a development meet, so county qualifiers can't enter swims for which they have obtained a championship's 2016 consideration time. Note they can enter events that they have not achieved times for.

Also we have added a points table to enable selection for the Kent Development Camp in 2017. (See conditions for full details). To help spread entries swimmers can enter a maximum of 6 events.

There are also relay events for 2 age groups, with mixed and individual gender events. Note the conditions that restrict entries by Kent championships qualifiers to strokes they haven't qualified for.

Because Sportssystems is quite quirky with mixed relays, it looks like the mixed relay ages are odd. They are! The ones with 09 in front are the younger ones (9-11), and the ones with 10 in front are the older ones (12-14). Its only an issue for the Mixed relays, the single gender ones are as you would expect.

Also a glitch was identified within the entry file on the Upper QT's for the 100IM's, I have therefore created a new entry file, which is attached below. It only affects the 100IM and 200IM. The old file will work if you don't have IM entries, but please use the new one here if you haven't started yet or have IM entries.

You will note on the above list the latest guidance on photography at ASA events, please ensure all parents are aware. Please ask your welfare officer if you have questions relating to that.

The closing date is almost upon us (7th October 2016)

Now you know who is entering we would like clubs to ask for volunteers to help out in the non-technical areas of

  • Door (selling programmes) (2 people)
  • Medal Table (Ensuring correct swimmers pick up medals and recorded as such)(2 people)
  • Marshalls (Ensuring swimmers in the correct place prior to start) (3 people)
  • Assistant Recorder (1 person)

Qualified officials and those in training/mentoring, need to sign up via the official page here

Each of the above are required per session. If a club wants to provide all for a session that would be ideal (as at Kents), or if you can only offer four people that's fine too. Please email John King with your list of volunteers.
