1st September 2015

Kent swimmer, Billy Birchmore (aged 19), who trains with Orpington Ojays SC and Sharks of Mottingham SC is a new Down Syndrome International Swimming Organisation (DSISO) world record holder!

The T21 open short course record was set at the Beachfield Summer Open at Medway Park Gillingham on 11 July 2015 in the 100m Backstroke event in a time of 1.17.52.  This time beat the previous record by Mexican Ricardo Herrera by nearly 2 seconds.

Billy already held the European Record, but now is a proud world record holder in this event.

Visit the DSISO website to see the record listing.  The Down Syndrome International Swimming Organisation was created to provide swimmers with Down Syndrome the opportunity to swim at World Class level through it's World Championships held every two years.
